What exactly is this Shopify Foundations program?
Shopify Foundations is a strategic planning and 8-week implementation service designed to help your store make more revenue per visitor from the traffic you already have.
Using our proven ecommerce best practices, we improve the key parts of your store through strategy, copywriting, design and development , with a focus on increasing conversion rate and average order value.
How is the Shopify Foundations program different from the RPV Growth Sprint Kozler offers?
Shopify Foundations is predominantly based on the ecommerce best practices we’ve spent years testing and refining, the changes we know tend to move the needle for the majority of ecommerce businesses.
We apply those proven principles across the key parts of your store and implement the changes for you.
RPV Growth Sprint is a more customised optimisation program for larger Shopify brands. It involves deeper research into your specific store, customers and performance, followed by ongoing A/B testing to verify which changes improve results.
Shopify Foundations Program = proven best practices, implemented for you.
RPV Growth Program = deeper customised research, experimentation and A/B testing.
What is included in Shopify Foundations?
Shopify Foundations is delivered in three phases:
- Phase One
We review your Shopify analytics, customers and value proposition, then run our Conversion Workshop, Basket Booster Workshop and RPV Opportunity Audit to create a clear roadmap for your core buying funnel. - Phase Two
We implement the agreed plan and make improvements across your store using the specialist skills needed, including copywriting, design and development. - Phase Three
Once the changes are live, we provide a 30-day launch warranty to fix bugs and make minor tweaks related to our work.
What isn’t included in The Shopify Foundations Program?
- Marketing or Lead Generation

We do not plan, write, or manage full email/SMS campaigns or flows. We may recommend on-site capture improvements. - Brand redesign/full re-platforming
We do not deliver full brand identity projects or complete Shopify theme rebuilds. Our focus is on RPV improvements within existing brand, platform, and themes. - Backend operations, logistics and listings
We do not change or manage inventory, shipping partners, fulfilment, or customer service operations. We'll make onsite recommendations where they impact conversion. - Images & videos
We do not supply, create or produce photography, graphics or video content for your store. - Non-Shopify assets
We do not manage or build non-Shopify assets (standalone funnels, apps, or sites) unless explicitly included.
Do you create bundles as part of Shopify Foundations?
No.
Creating new bundles is not included in the Shopify Foundations package.
If bundles or other work outside the core scope are needed, these can be scoped separately as an additional service.
Is A/B testing included?
No.This program is predominantly based on the ecommerce best practices we already know work across a wide range of Shopify stores.
It does not include ongoing A/B testing, because Shopify stores not making around 600 orders a month will not get conclusive results running tests.
What happens when we start working together?
What happens when we start working together?
What happens during the Phase One workshop?
Before we change anything, we look at your numbers, your brand, your customers and how your store is currently performing.
The outcome is a clear plan to optimise your Shopify's core buying funnel.
- Homepage
- Navigation
- About page
- Collection page
- Product page
- Cart & checkout
- Post-purchase experience
The plan sets the direction for the work that follows and may involve changes to copywriting, design and development to increase the revenue your store can generate.
What if we’re not happy with the direction after Phase One?
Shopify Foundations includes our First Phase Guarantee.
If you’re not happy with the direction after the Phase One workshop, tell us before the Phase two begins and we’ll refund your deposit.
You’ll have had the opportunity to review the recommended plan before deciding whether you feel confident moving forward.
Do you start changing the website straight away?
No. Phase One is about understanding your store, customers and performance, then creating the right plan before we start making changes.
If you’re building something to scale, it’s worth taking the time to get the foundations right first.
Once the direction is agreed, we move into implementation.
What happens in Phase two?
Phase Two is where our specialist team turns the Phase One plan into improvements across your Shopify store.
Depending on what’s needed, this can include:
- Wireframing
Mapping key changes before design. - Copywriting
Addressing customer concerns and increasing perceived value. - UI design
Creating polished, on-brand designs focused on conversion. - Shopify development
Building the final changes across devices.
It brings together multiple specialist skill sets strategy, copy, design and development, so you’re not just given recommendations, they’re actually implemented.
How long does Shopify Foundations take?
Shopify Foundations Program normally takes 8–10 weeks.
Phase One usually takes 1–2 weeks to review your store and create the optimisation plan.
We then move into the 8-week implementation phase, where we put the agreed improvements into place.
Once the improvements are live, we monitor the store for 30 days to see how everything is behaving and make any small adjustments needed.
How do we improve your Shopify store?
We find where your store is losing revenue, prioritise the biggest opportunities and turn them into practical improvements across the buying journey.
How do you decide what needs to change?
Shopify Foundations is predominantly based on the ecommerce best practices we’ve developed through years of testing and refining multi million dollar Shopify stores.
During Phase One, we look at your store, customers, numbers and current performance, then determine how those principles should be applied to your business.
We use that to create a plan for the implementation work that follows.
Which parts of our Shopify store do you optimise?
Shopify Foundations focuses on seven key parts of the buying journey.
Homepage
Make it clearer what you sell, why it’s worth buying and where customers should go next.
Navigation
Make it easier for customers to find what they’re looking for and move towards the right product without unnecessary friction.
About page
Build trust and give customers more confidence in the brand behind the products.
Collection page
Improve how products are organised and presented so customers can find and compare the right products more easily.
Product page
Strengthen how your products are presented, make their value easier to understand and introduce relevant upsells and cross-sells where appropriate.
Cart & checkout
Review the journey towards payment and address things that may create hesitation or abandonment.
Post-purchase pop up
Look a opportunity to increase the value of the customer after their initial purchase.
Do you optimise the whole website?
Shopify Foundations has a defined scope.
We focus specifically on your Homepage, Navigation, About page, Collection pages, Product pages, Cart & checkout and Post-purchase experience.
Work outside these areas is not automatically included in the package, but can be quoted separately.
Do you rewrite the copy as well as redesign the pages?
Yes, where it is part of the agreed optimisation plan.
The work may involve copywriting, design and Shopify development depending on what needs to change across the areas included in the service.
Will this work increase my conversion rate?
Yes the goal is to improve your average order value and conversion rate on your site.
Getting more visitors to buy is important, but so is creating opportunities for customers to spend more when they do.
The work can therefore address both conversion rate and average order value within the areas included in The Shopify Foundations Program.
Why don’t you A/B test the changes?
A/B testing only works when there’s enough traffic and orders to produce a reliable result.
For most Shopify stores, you need to be generating around 600 orders a month before tests can reach statistical significance within a useful timeframe.
In plain English, statistical significance means there’s enough data to be reasonably confident that a result came from the change we made, rather than normal fluctuations or chance.
For stores below that volume, tests can take too long or fail to produce a conclusive result.
That’s why Shopify Foundations doesn’t include A/B testing. Instead, we apply the ecommerce best practices we’ve spent years testing and refining across other stores, the changes we know tend to move the needle for the majority of ecommerce businesses.
Once your store has the volume to support reliable testing, our RPV Growth Sprint takes a more customised approach with deeper research and ongoing A/B testing.
What happens once the improvements are live?
Once the improvements have been launched, we monitor the store for 30 days.
During this period, we watch how everything is behaving and make fine-tuned improvements where needed.
What results can I expect to see?
Understand the improvements we’re aiming for, the results we’ve seen in the past and why every store performs differently.
What is Shopify Foundations Program designed to improve?
Shopify Foundations Program is designed to improve the parts of your store that influence whether customers stay, buy and spend more.
That can include making your value clearer, improving the buying experience, reducing friction and creating more opportunities for customers to spend.
The aim is to improve conversion rate and average order value, helping your store generate more revenue from the traffic you already have.
Do you guarantee a specific increase in conversion or revenue?
Unfortunately, without A/B testing, results cannot be guaranteed.
Shopify Foundations is based predominantly on the e-commerce best practices we’ve seen improve performance across a wide range of stores.
On average, stores we’ve worked with through this program have seen around a 22% increase in Revenue Per Visitor.
Results may vary.
What happens during the 30-day launch warranty
Once the improvements are live, you have a 30-day launch warranty.
During this period, we fix any bugs and make minor tweaks related to the work we’ve implemented, so everything is working as intended once real customers are using it.
That’s cleaner and doesn’t imply ongoing optimisation or A/B testing.
Still weighing it up?
A few final questions to help you decide whether Shopify Foundations is the right fit for your store.
Why not just spend more on ads?
When you fix the store first. Your ad spend will be more profitable.
We’re not against ads. Keep your ads running.
Advertising gets people to your store. Shopify Foundations Program improves what happens after the click.
If your conversion rate is low or customers aren’t spending enough when they buy, simply sending more people into the same experience doesn’t address the underlying problem.
The aim is to make your website more effective so the traffic you’re already paying for has a better opportunity to turn into profitable sales.
Do we have to stop running ads while you work on the store?
No.
Shopify Foundations isn’t about replacing advertising or stopping your ads.
Ads bring customers to the website. We focus on improving what happens once they arrive.
Couldn’t our existing team do this?
You could, but you may need a lot of different skill sets.
Some of the brands we work with have already tried managing conversion optimisation internally before coming to us. The difference is that this is what Kozler specialises in, and we already have the right expertise in one team.
We bring together ecommerce strategy, conversion-focused copywriting, UX, design and Shopify development, backed by years of testing and refining what tends to improve performance across ecommerce stores.
Rather than asking your internal team to work everything out from scratch, Shopify Foundations gives them access to a specialist team and a proven body of best practices.
For smaller brands, website optimisation is often a project rather than an ongoing full-time role. Bringing in experienced specialists for that project can help you get more from the work without needing to build all of those skills in-house.
Why not just hire a freelance over an agency?
Freelancers can be great, particularly when you need help with a specific skill.
But optimising a Shopify store for growth isn’t really a one-person job. It can require ecommerce strategy, conversion copywriting, UX, design and Shopify development and it’s rare for one person to be equally strong across all of those areas.
If you’re building a store you want to scale into the millions, you need more than one skill set.
With Kozler, you get a team of specialists bringing those different areas together, backed by years of experience optimising ecommerce stores.
Why not wait until we reach $1 million before improving the website?
It doesn’t make sense to keep sending expensive traffic to an underperforming website when you already know the site will need improving later.
If your store is already getting meaningful traffic, your website directly affects how much of that traffic turns into revenue.
Shopify Foundations helps you fix those foundations first, so as you spend more on marketing, more of that traffic has a better chance of converting.
What if our website already looks good?
Looking good and performing well are not necessarily the same thing.
Shopify Foundations Program looks beyond the visual design at the whole buying journey, how clearly customers understand the offer, how easily they can find products, what helps them make a decision, where friction exists and where there are opportunities to increase spend.
The goal isn’t a prettier website. It’s a store that does a better job of turning traffic into revenue.
What if we want ongoing A/B testing?
For larger Shopify brands that want deeper customised research, experimentation and ongoing A/B testing, our RPV Growth Sprint is designed for that, but you need to make at least 600 orders per month for this to be worthwhile.
Is this just a website redesign?
It depends on what we uncover in Phase One.
Our goal isn’t to give you a new website design, it’s to help your store make more money. That may involve changes to your copy, UX, design and development across the areas included in Shopify Foundations.
We’re not redesigning things simply to make them look different.
Every recommended change is focused on improving the buying journey and helping your store perform better.
What if we need something that isn’t included in the package?
Shopify Foundations Program has a defined scope focused on the key areas included in the service.
If we identify additional work you’d like us to complete, such as creating new product bundles, that can be scoped and quoted separately as an add-on service.
